Emireth Cancino, M.S., NCC

Resident in Counseling

I have a direct and straightforward approach to counseling that balances genuineness and honesty with supportive affirmation and encouragement. I’m passionate about multicultural counseling and trauma informed care. I have experience with transgenerational trauma and work to help clients develop a better understanding of their trauma as well as other aspects of life that have been impacted by their trauma.

I’ve worked with a range of clients from adolescents to older adults, which has allowed me to gain experience and aid them in their journey to further life development. I have experience with individual and group counseling with both adults and adolescents recovering from addiction and substance use, co-occurring diagnoses, anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, PTSD and other diagnoses.

In my therapeutic practice I tend to utilize primarily cognitive-behavioral, motivational interviewing, and emotion-focused lenses in my counseling work, tempered with a humanistic and client-centered appreciation for the healing power of the counseling relationship. However, I also take into consideration evidence-based practices and your goals, personality, and beliefs to fully develop a well-rounded and individualized therapeutic approach.
